The Man Cave

The man cave is simply a masculine lair. It’s the spot in the house which highly speaks of everything the man wants and desires. It can be a garage, a den, a basement or an attic that the man of the house can retreat to. It is designed by the man for his own enjoyment and satisfaction and something he can share with his male buddies. Think of it as a home male version of the female spa, nail salon and shoe closet all in one.

Typical features of a man cave include a poker table, billiard table, bar or video games. Though, it basically depends on the preferences of the male homeowner. A basketball sports fan, for instance, can introduce a basketball ring into his man cave along with lockers and basketball posters. A rocker would undoubtedly put soundproof walls so he can jam all night long. Someone who’s into video games and computers will obviously put consoles and PC units into his gaming lair. Whatever the styles and designs are, the area ultimately reflects the personality of the man.

In order to give the room a truly masculine look there are some things that should be incorporated into the design. First and foremost, there should be an ultra comfortable chair which the man can consider his throne. It can be a recliner, an upholstered arm chair, a bean bag or a video game chair. Of course, the cool electronics comprising of the huge flat screen TV and an immense sound system is ever-present. Men love to watch their sports – be it basketball, football or baseball. When TV time is over, attention is often spun on whatever gaming consoles or equipment is present. Every man cave boasts of a few pieces of gaming equipment. Finally, men when engrossed in their sports or video games have barely the time to get up for their drinks. Hence, a small freezer, kegerator or bar is always a nice touch inside the man cave.
